Default Which models had the 11.25” torque converter

I’ve been planning on buying a 2003-2011 grand marquis for awhile now. Can I have the model trims (LS, LSE, LS Premium, etc) that have the 11.25” torque converter? Sorry.. I’m new here. And if you have the time, I’d appreciate you also telling the latest year they’ve made one with that torque converter. I plan on modifying it, that includes raising the engine rpm limiter, so this is a must!

Hello, BeePee, and welcome to the Mercury Forums, Grand Marquis Division --
Can't find anything about an 11.25-inch torque converter for the 4R70W transmission as used on the Grand Marquis.--
Dimensions given are:
Bolt pattern = 11.375
Overall diameter = 12.732
I'm curious as to why you would want to monkey with the Torque Converter in the first place -- you won't get much "performance-per-dollar" over the stock converter, and the higher stall speed will cost you money at the gas station.

I have owned and driven the 95 MERC for 13 years, adding 108,000 miles to the clock. Extensive suspension modifications were made, along with braking system upgrades.
Engine mods at a minimal, with Bosch Double-Iridium spark plugs; Bosch Mag-Core Ignition Wires; Mallory Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator; and modified Air Box, with snorkel removed and a K&N Air Filter.
A Dual Exhuast, with Walker H-pipe; MagnaFlow 2" Glasspacks, and Walker tailpipes add about 20 horsepower over the stock single exhaust.
Transmission modifications = B&M Shift Improver Kit, set up for "Heavy Duty" -- NOT "racing" !!
I use Mobil 1 trans fluid, and change the Motorcraft trans filter (and clean the internal magnet) every 30,000 miles.
The 95 MERC is set up for long-distance, high-speed cruising through the mountains and deserts of the Southwest, with occasional trips to Canada and Mexico.

Click my name to see my profile -- 12 pix of 95 MERC are in my "Albums" section, showing some of the mods that were made.

All things said, I would opt for a B&M Shift Improver Kit -- it's MUCH cheaper and MUCH easier than changing the Torque Converter. The B&M Kit can be installed when the Trans Filter is changed.

The main reason is that i plan on raising the rpm limiter to 5600-5900. The stock 12” can’t handle that.
i don’t care about the shifting. That won’t allow me to raise the rpm.

I understand that you want a 5600-5900 rev limit -- but WHY !!???
Power and torque drop off after 5,000 rpms on the stock engine, so cranking it higher is of no measurable benefit..
Let's face it, the Marquis is NOT a race car -- quarter-mile times of 15 seconds requires a LOT of modification -- and a lot of expense.

The stock rev limiter prevents the car from exceeding 110 miles-per-hour. I have "topped out" at 110 several times.
Your stock Grand Marquis is unsafe on the highway above that speed, due to stock cooling, suspension, and braking systems.

I don’t want to be a race car driver lol... I’d get a mustang if I was. Think rationally with me haha. I just genuinely like the sound of the motor in that range. At 5100 it sounds pretty detuned and unlively. I still want a car to sound good. I just asked a simple question didn’t mean to get so much hate... like “2011 LS (not sure if that’s correct) is the latest grand marquis to use the 11.25” torque converter.”

I’m trying to keep my cool with you haha because I am new to this forum, but it’s just frustrating me that you’re portraying me as someone whose stupid. If I wanted better shifts, I’d obviously do a shift kit. If I wanted a racecar I wouldn’t be buying a grand marquis! Like holy crap I just want an answer. I appreciate the information you’re giving but it doesn’t answer my question.

There is/was no "hate" coming from me.
Nor is/was there any implication that you are "stupid".
Perhaps I shouldn't have responded to your question, or engaged with you in any way. -- as your attitude is offensive, and apparently,
you are unaware of your immature demeanor.-- or perhaps you just don't care.

It appears that you didn't come here to LEARN anything, or you would quit whining and engage respectfully with those who respond to you.
I cut you some slack because you are new here --the ball is in your court.
Enjoy your week-end !!.
