I was trying to sum up what it is about:

eBay auction for driver side fog light, brand new, with bracket, no bids, over in a little over 1 day, about $20 including shipping.

Better getting 1 cheap than 2 for the dealer price. Good things take time, here's a way to start. Some of us are looking for something like that.

Now I need one for the (left) drivers side! 2006 MGM.

You bought it?

$14.85, a steal! Congratulations!

Yep. I spotted the fog the day it was posted and just waited. I did expect more bids.

Yep, people just want it all, and are not willing to pay for it.

You got yourself a good deal. Even if you buy the other one from the dealer, you will safe a ton of money. You might even run across one on the junkyard.

I'm curious: Do you have the openings in your bumper already, maybe covered with a placeholder?

Yes. I purchased a Hertz rental from the local Ford dealer and the fog lamps were deleted. I have two black panels covering the location in the bumper where they go. I will have to add ALL wiring, connectors, relays, fuseand the light switch. I will just add the components as I gather them.

92Mercury 09-03-2007 03:16 PM

I see, thanks for the info.

Are you sure about the wiring? I added fog light to a Taurus before, and the wiring was completely there. Connectors behind the bumper and the placeholder in the dash. Just had to plug in lights and switch, worked right away.

Someone told me before that the manufacturer would usually use the same wiring, as it is cheaper to them all the same than running different productions. Would make sense, the leftovers could be huge!

Now, on the Taurus, the plug behind the dash was extremely hard to find. The harness was actually folded backward (facing away from the placeholder) and wire-tied to another one. We ended up taking off the knee bolster to access them, untangle and redirect.

Pretty sure the wiring is not there. I cannot find any dangling connectors for the lights. Not sure about the light switch to LCM wiring. The relay socket has no terminals in it. It will be a while before I start the installation. I will keep you updated as I make progress.

92Mercury 09-05-2007 10:28 PM

Well, here's the light switch, and if you ask nicely, they might even pull some of the wiring off the car (2001):

Thanks but that one doesn't look like the on on my car. Looks a bit dirty too!

92Mercury 09-06-2007 09:53 AM

Really? So they changed the design between these year, eh? What a shame.

Dirty? Well, that's how cars look like here. You could clean it. Doesn't look like it's scratched.

BTW: How does your switch look like? Do you have on on its own, instead of the combination switch?

I received the right side fog light yesterday and it sure does look nice. I wont install it until I get one for the left side. Anyone have a left hand fog light for sale? Thanks,

UPDATE:

Both fog lights installed but not wired into the electrical yet. The front end looksmuch better with the fog lights rather than the black out plate. Found the lamp connectors at a local salvage yard at $2 each.Sure beats the dealer price.

Theleft fogcame fromMN (ThrotonSalvage)for $20 plus shipping. It seemed that ebay just wasn't going to list one.

92Mercury 11-11-2007 11:18 AM

Lucky you, congratulations!

Doing a quick adding here, sounds like you got the whole package for less than $50. Only thing left is maybe some electric stuff and personal effort.

Wow, can't beat that. So, considering how long it took to get the 2nd one, it sure proofs:Good things take time.

And financially? A joke anyway. Would be nice to see a picture of your front now.

Greetings!

Final Update: Project completed.

Just installed a new headlight switch with the pull-on fog function. Now I have fog lights. I installed and wired the fog light relay as doneat the factory --spliced into the lighting module and headlight/fog switchusing wire splice connectors at connector C260. They function as factory installed fog lights. If I ever find a 2006 battery junction box, I will used those parts to modify my BJB and eliminate the outboard relay and fuse. Anyone got one?

Thanks toallwho posted comments here. Whew!

Say, do your foglights come on when you only have the parking lights on, or do you have to have the low beams on as well?

Hi 92m':

The low beams must beON as well as the ignition switch toON (RUN). They will not turn on with parking lights and willturn off when high beams are selected. Also, when pulled on, by simply turning the headlight switch to park or off, the knob will go to off or push itself in. In other words, when the headlights are turn off so are thefog lamps. Neat! Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanks. I was wondering.
