Unhappy No overdrive

I have a 1992 Mercury Marquis. While I was driving the overdrive went out. All the other gears work fine. I went to the junk yard and put in a used transmission. It is still doing the same exact thing. CAn anyone please help? Is this a sensor problem? Or something else? Thanks.

Could be a few things... First thing we woudl need to know is which transmssion your car has.. In 1992 they used the AOD which is a fully mechanical transmission with a cable connected to the throttle linkage, and the AODE which was electronically shifted...

need to look at the driver door and tell us the build date or which transmission you put in. if it is the AOD, the plastic bushing might be shot and your cable just hanging not raising pressure in the sytem and fries the AOD transmissions if not taken care of. get back to us with what trans you used
