my 98 grand marquis just started making a squeeking noise when the wheels are turning. it sounds like it is coming from the pump. i checked the fluid and it smells funny not like new fluid does. i am wondering if there is a drain on the pump that the fluid can be drained and new fluid replaced? or is the pump gone and that is what is making the fluid smell? any ideas or fixes?

thank you for reading this

Well, you might want to consider that the fluid is 9 years old.

Yes, you can change it, but the system has to be bleeding afterwards, or your pump will run dry, and that will kill it.

I had the same issue, I had the fluid changed ($55 at the dealership), and thus they told me it could take a while to notice any change if it helps, the noise was gone right away, and never came back.

Here's the details about the pump:

You're more than welcome.

I know put a little over 750 miles on mine, and everything is still fine, quiet, the way it's suppose to be.

Let us know the outcome. Would be interesting to see how it went. Good luck.

Greetings.
