Please help my understand how to read the dipstick on my car's transmission. Its a 2000 grand marquis. I have read other threads but have not found a clear answer anywhere.
Heres the dilemma, the dipstick reads full on one side and low on the other. Its deceptive. If i turn it the reading goes to the other side. Which one should i trust.? It seems like most people don't do it correctly and are either running low or overfilled on these.

Please throw some light on this issue and enlighten me so i can do it correctly. whats the trick?

 

I always read to go with the lower side's reading.
