Wont turn over. HELP.
Winter driver start her every 3 weeks or so during the summer. always fires right up like a dream no problems, went to start her today and turned the key and starter woulndt crank. sounded as if the battery was dead. hooked it up to another car and still no go. all lights and radio sill work. whats up with it? thanks
92 MGM never had a problem with that before. it just started three weeks ago.
As a shot in the dark, sometimes the starter motor brushes get hung up in their holders and thus no starter operation. Try rapping the starter motor body with a heavy tool . The brushes may free up and work again.
Otherwise, if the starter solenoid "clicks", it means 12v is reaching the starter terminal (if the cable has good connections on both ends) and something in the starter is at fault. This assumes the battery is at least up to 12.6v. If not, the solenoid will click but not enough voltage/current will be had to operate the starter.
