Started turning over slow a little while back, then one day cranking slowly it wouldn't start then just a click. Now it barely clicks.

Had the Starter and battery tested, cleaned the post etc. Both are good. Checked Inertia switch. Checked the plugs and wires recently. Car was running near perfect. Passed emissions in 2010. 105000 miles. (good for a 97)

Doesn't have ignition, NSS or Coil pack symptoms. Battery cable and starter cable look fine. I always keep the engine compartment clean. Maybe a fuse or relay?

Any help is much appreciated. It sucks driving my gas hog truck to work. Gah...

 

if the battery charge is good, i'd pinpoint the prime suspect to be the starter relay; the clicking sound mainly originates from there as far as i can remember.

 

Thanks Kojack. It ended up being the starter itself. The Oreilys I took it to had an untrained 18 year old testing it and it gave a false pass. I took it out again and took it to a different store and it failed. Replaced the starter and it runs perfect again. Ugh.
