We have an '02 Mountaineer w/ 70kmileswhere the starter fuse keeps blowing...our localmechanicsaid it could be very expensive, like thousands,to fix and basically said to get rid of it asap because it will only get worse.Has anyoneexperienced the same issue orhave any ideas as to whatcould be the problem or advice?? We seem to experience problems with it starting, out of the blue it will chug but won't start until after several tries, then run fine the next few times, and finally it won't even turn over because the fuse blew. Thanks for any suggestions!

Well, the first thing you need to determine is what is blowing the fuse. Is the check engine light on? Personally, I would take a problem like that to the dealer and at least get an estimate. They will probably charge you for a diagnosis, but It sounds like your mechanic is guessing or doesn't know. I can't imagine it would cost thousnads. You could but an entire engine in for thousands.
