I have a 2004 mountaineer that has a hum coming from the front end. was told by a mech. that the carrier bearings were going. He said that the job requires a special tool and only ford can do it. Like to hear from anyone who is familiar with this problem. Thanks, gepp

 

If you talking about the hub assembly, you can do that job. I did mine last summer, 2007 4.6 AWD. I would get the OEM hubs, check online, I found a great price. They are a little tough coming off but they will. Look for a you tube video for the replacement. Not that hard of a job.
