2003 AWD V8. Cruise control quit. In dying it would work for a time then quit, finally will not turn on at all. Where should I look for a problem?

Is the cruise on the steering wheel or on one of the column arms?

The cruise is on the Steering wheel. And as far as i know, you have to get
above 30mph and hit the cruise on button, then hit the set + button but
nothing happens.

Has the cruise ever worked? Did you check your manual to make sure there is no little trick to activate it?

I am going to bite the bullet and have my dealer diagnose the cruise problem. Let you all know how big the bullet is when I get their estimate. I expect either the electronics of the speed sensor or the control unit to be the problem since the cruise function faded away rather than just quitting. Yes, buttons are on the steering wheel and you turn on the cruise and press set + if everything is working right. Unlike my Honda, you have to turn on the cruise function each time you start the car. One light on the dash confirms that the cruise is on and another that it is set. My "set" light does not come on anymore.

sounds like the speed sensor to me. that would be the cheapest fix probably.

Is that the same as the throttle position sensor? If so, that makes sense. Have any of you guys checked on a cruise recall?
