I have a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer. The brake lights won''t shut off. I am assuming this is a fuse problem, but not sure. I don''t have an owner''s manual for this vehicle since I purchased it from what has turned out to be a shady dealer. I don''t know where the fuses are and also don''t have a diagram to make sure I am checking the right ones. Please let me know if you can help me out with this problem. thanks

actually that will be a brake light switch problem. either the switch is stuck on, or has been maladjusted. I''m not sure hot to adjust that on the mountaineer, but it should be an easy fix if it''s just the adjustment. The switch should be mounted to the brake pedal rest bar (or whatever the bracket that the pedal rests against is called). if adjusting the switch doesn''t work, you will need to replace the switch.
