Hey, just sold a truck of mine, and I am looking into buying a mountaineer. I was wondering what ya'll thought of it!

i know that you posted this a long time ago and proably are not watching this post at all but, what year moutaineer are you looking at purchasing?

I have a 2004 mountaineer and I love it.It runs great and it has alot of power.I would recommend it for anyone.

Jrod, How many miles do you have on it? Have you had any transmission problems there seem to be alot of them creeping our way...

I have about 12,000 miles[img]smileys/smiley5.gif[/img],the tranny is fine so far.What kind of problems could I be in for?

Harsh shifts and delayed engagment into reverse.. You may get lucky and not have the problem at all but if you do there is a fix avaliable to your dealer but cannot be done unless the problem is present..

Hey MercAdvisor,my wife told me that it has been shifting hard while downshifting to pass and I actually noticed it today also[img]smileys/smiley19.gif[/img].As far as reverse,that is ok for now[img]smileys/smiley4.gif[/img].Thanks for the info,I appreciate it.Talk to ya later.[img]smileys/smiley16.gif[/img]

That may be a computer programing issue.. Happy to try to help didnt want to scare you or make you worry about the truck but just something to look out for

We had our 2004 taken in and adjusted (?) for hard shifting. Also, just got a notice from Ford saying we should bring the vehicle in to have a new/different type of transmission fluid put in.
