Hi i have a problem with my 1999 Mercury Mountaineer. My windshield washer pump won''t work in the front but it works in the back.I replaced the washer pump and i still have the same problem. It seems when i push the button for the windshield nothings sprays out and no noise from the pump neither. When i hit the button for the rear the pump works fine and fuild sprays out.Any advice on what the problem might be!

the relay for the front washer pump may be bad, or the button may need to be cleaned/replaced. You may need to trace all the wire harnesses between the button and the pump and make sure they''re all connected. you might also unplug the pump and put a multimeter (or test light) on the other connector and see if it is getting voltage when you press the button.

After digging a little, it looks like there''s not a relay. This may be true since the washer pumps are not high power devices. You say you replaced the washer pump. You might need to check the wire harness and make sure the pins and connectors are clean, not bent, not corroded, and making good contact. You may also need to check the lines to make sure they''re not clogged.

When you press the wash button, do the wipers actuate? If nothing happens at all, then it''s probably the button itself. If the wipers do actuate, then it''s probably a wiring issue to the pump or the hose issue to the sprayers. One of the best ways to check the hoses is to disconnect them from the sprayers and the pump and blow them out with some compressed air. and with the hoses disconnected from the pump, try pushing the wash button and see if the pump sprays any water. Sometimes new pumps can be bad.
