Hi, all, just bought a 2008 Sable Premier to replace my 2002 Olds Intrigue. I was glad to find this forum. I'm on my 2nd Focus and the Sable will be my wife's car. I'm an ASE Master Tech, although Ford products are not my specialty - that's why I'm glad to find a good forum.

I already bought a set of service manuals off of Ebay for $57.00 - I guess I'm on my way

 

all I have is the chilton's manuals for my cars... of course, mine are much older and need less troubleshooting to figure out.

 

Hey kmohr. Welcome to the site. Does the Sable have Ford's direct injected engine in it? If so, how does it go? From what I read in Car & Driver the new Taurus is way up on h.p. and praised it for its power and poise compared to any other Taurus (or Sable) of old. Even the SHO. I'd like a master techs 1st impression of it. Loaded? AWD? Let me know.

 

No, it's not the direct injection - just looks like regular port fuel injection (injectors mounted on the upper intake). Although, it does have the 263 hp engine like the new Taurus. And it is fast! I am really impressed by this engine/transmission combination. Overall, it handles very well, fast, kind of an 'import' car feel to it. This car would probably whip my Intrigue's ***.....

It's the FWD Premier model - fully loaded, except for the NAV system and the DVD entertainment stuff.

My biggest complaint is the Sync system has a bit of a learning curve to it. i was able to flash version 1.3 into it which seemed to solve a connectivity issue with my Treo 755p.

Right now it may be possible to find some lease turn-ins, like we did - they usually have about 22k on them.
