Question 1997 Grand Marquis LS - No Start

An unofficial Mercury Forum? Sweet....

Although You know I did not just register to tell how well everthing is going with my mercury, so here is the problem.

Background:
1997 Grand Marquis, ~48,000 Miles... yup and 30,000 of those in the past 2 years.

Problem:
Only recently hav eI had problems with the car...twice I was in it parked waiting with the AC on and the car just died. Like it shorted out. that was within the last two weeks. Last night drove, it no problem. This morning I go out and I turn the key and there is a short, some relays clicking and the display goes blank. Radio looses its location however all the program sets and the clock are on time. Windows work fine. I let it sit still...does it again. Thought at first that it was a starter short since it only would short when I went to start but I have a feeling there is an issue with a main relay or controlling computer.

Has anybody had this issue in the past? A computer issue? Starter. Although I really don't think its the starter shorting. Relay kept clicking with the key out of the ignition.

check to make sure your battery terminals are clean/not corroded and that your connections are tight.

Beast50, Thanks, I had discussed this issue with a friend of mine offline and this was a possible problem. I had checked the terminals and they were fine. however I went the extra step to try a different battery. Problem solved... FYI to those that want to know... The battery was 2 years old, Autocraft Titanium. Intermittent short. Going to do a load test today. First time I have every had something like this happen to a battery.
