New guy
Hey guys, joined to get some maintenance help on the truck I bought over the Winter. I've got a 1998 Mountaineer 4.0 with 170,000 miles.. drives great and I would like to keep it that way. I also have a 1998 trans am ws6 as a weekend car.
I don't have a picture of the merc, but here's a google pic that looks the same.
Here's one I snapped at Myrtle Beach of the t/a last week.

Welcome. General rule is change the oil when you're supposed to and make sure all the fluids are topped off (including grease in the steering joints) and you should do well with it. My 93 vic has somewhere in that ballpark of miles on it (we're not sure since the odometer didn't track for a year - had to fab my own planetary gear to replace the plastic one that fell apart - seems to be a common failure of the mid 90s ford speedos). My 88 MGM barely has over 107K miles. The only major issues I've had were rebuilding the trans on the vic shortly after I got it (looks like it had been used for towing a lot) and the water pump going out sometime last year. Take good care of your Merc and it'll take good care of you.
