Hi, I just bought an ''02 grand marquis in FL a few weeks ago and I''m looking forward to adding to it. I was curious if the radio in a double din size or if it changes to a single din in the dash?

Not sure about the 02. In the previous platform it changes to a single DIN behind the faceplate. Given the layout of the dash, I would assume it does the same thing in the newer body style. I had to use one of those goofy plastic "universal" adapters to fit a single DIN in the dash, but it came out looking pretty decent.

looks like it''s a din.5... crutchfield shows the adapter that will give you a small cubby to store stuff and install a din size head unit...

lol, is there a way I can install a double din radio by making the hole bigger or will I be cutting into the air duct?

Yeah. That''s the adapter we have to use. It''s plastic and seems kind of flimsy.....but I do have them in the MGM and the Superduty, so I guess they''re ok.

I don''t see how a double din could be fit into an MGM, but I''m not a professional stereo guy.

you would have to one-off the setup for sure. it would involve modification of the dash at the least and definitely require making your own mounting brackets.
