Noob to the site but not to cars.
Whats up members. So got on this forum because I am looking to see if anyone has had a similar situation. Let me start off by saying that I have a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer 5.0 AWD with 207xxx miles on it. Recently, in -10 degree weather, the throttle has become seemingly stuck. While idling it tacs up to 3200 RPM's and stays put. Im assuming its the cable but before i go tearing things apart I wonder if the idle control valve sensor or the throttle position sensor could be the problem. First time it has done this in 4 years of winter weather. Recent work includes fuel filter, front driveshaft, seafoam, mass airflow sensor, and soon the intake air sensor. Probably important to include that I have a CEL that is stating I am running lean on both banks. Assumed it was the MAF next moving to possible vacuum leaks or maybe IAT sensor.
Any opinions are appreciated. TIA |
