Shudder
#1
I just bought a 1991 Mercury Tracer...needed a car!
Since I am an automotive idiot...I need some help.
I bought the car yesterday....everything was fine when my husband test drove the car the day before. Driving the car during the day yesterday, going down a straight lane the car suddenly made a shudder...the whole car seemed to shake...the temp went up and then the shudder abruptly stopped and I pulled off the road. My husband drove the car later that afternoon and nothing happened...what caused that shudder?

Does the shaking start on the side roads, or on the highway at high
speeds? You said when the temp went up it stopped........a faulty plug
wire may cause your car to shake and go away when the temp goes up
seeing it is a four cylinder engine (1.9). If this happens again check
the exaust for fresh smell of gas and if you smell raw gas a cylinder
may not be firing as it should causing the shaking. I had this happen
to my "93" tracer wagon at one time and the whole thing shook and I
lost most of my power during the driving period. If this doesn't help,
I hope someone here will help find your problem, good luck
