transmission issues!!!!

i came across a cheap used 1996 grand marquis. the owner says it can get up to 20 mph but will not shift to 2nd gear. does anyone know if i can fix this myself or if it's necessary to get a mechanic? cost???

It's probably going to cost like a grand for the tranmission. I think you should just try to look for another car.

I agree with him that you would have to spend a lot on the car.Its better to see for another one.

Trans problems

Check your TPS first then VSS Make sure the wiring is clean and connectors are in good cond, what does fluid look like?
