amen..... i got a letter in the mail to day bout a recall on me mgm they said it could catch on fire if i done get it fixed even if the car is not on at all... something to do with the speed control system malfunctioning so im getting on th phone first thing tomorro with the company and gettin it fixed

yeah... basically they install a fuse in the cruise control power connection under the master cylinder. That way if brake fluid leaks and shorts it, the fuse will pop and cut off power instead of letting it cook and catch fire.

oh... well thats good since the letter said the car could catch on fire without the key being in the ignition... i made a appointment today at parkway ford to get it done saturday...

you know i thought the cash for clunkers program was probably gonna be an ok program when it first started but then after i found out what the dealerships do to the clunkers they get i got pissed about it and i agree with you 100%...

I got that same letter in the mail. It's good to know what would happen to make the fire start and what they do to keep it from happening.

I haven't made an appointment yet, but I will soon.

Yeah, cash for clunkers was a good idea to get the economy rolling, but they really shouldn't waste vehicles in good condition. A friend of mine turned in her 'clunker' - an '02 Sable - for a new Fusion, but that Sable could've been driven thousands of miles more! Nope, they had to rip out the engine and crush it. At least they're recycling.

They should've put restrictions on which cars to resell and which to junk. The economy needs transportation for those who cant get to work, not just for getting the money into the auto industry.

yeh i agree.. and the the recall letter i got was wierd and im glad i got it fixed so i dont have to deal with that now...
