08 Sable
Hey everybody! Just bought an 08 Sable. I was wondering if anyone here has a 2008 or 2009? And if so, what kind of general experience are you having with your car? Any problems to watch out for? How is the mileage?
Thanks

You bought a great car (just a rebadged Montego) in my opinion, but is extinct as of 2009. I just read about the 2010 Taurus in my new Car and Driver. They even built an ECO-BOOST SHO that blasts to 60 mph in 5.2 secs. That is quicker than an Audi S6 V-10. Unfortunatly, Mercury decided not to follow suit as it always has w/the Taurus this time. Not yet atleast. We can always hope. What model Sable did you buy? Premier? AWD?

It is the Premier model, everything but the navigation stuff and the DVD player.
We found that they were snatched up pretty quickly. Three dealerships had sold one just hours before we arrived to look at it.
I think Ford (Mercury) could have sold a lot more of these if they had some better advertising.

Hi,
Just joined. I bought my Sable in Feb. 2010. It was a Ford Executive car with about 16,000 miles or so. It's a Premier AWD with the works including nav, sunroof, and chrome 18's. Got 39,000 miles now and no complaints except maybe the noisy tires.
Anybody got any ideas on better tires?

I have an 08 that I bought in summer of 09 it is a Premier. I think this is a really great car. It gets right at 30 mpg on the interstate at 70mph and averages 20.5 around town. The car has all kinds of room in the trunk as well as the cabin. I like the power of the 3.5 but the transmission sometimes feels that it is not sure what gear it wants and gives a slight back and forth or in out action.
I now have right at 40K on it and it has had two warranty issues that were repaired. The heated seat quit working at about 20K and the transmission had a seal at the axel that dripped slightly. One of the Parellie tires got to thumping at about 35K and was replaced the other tires look like they can go another 25K.
I agree that Ford missed the boat on these cars. They should have made thier value more known and kept them in production. I would buy another one.
