Greetings! I'm new here at this forum, but I've read a lot of posts and gotten some good info on the DPFE sensor that I think is causing my car's crappy fuel economy. I've since replace it since a lot of people think that is a chronic problem with Fords and it has run better but I still have a problem with the engine. Above 4000rpm's, it stumbles and misfires (?)-sounds like it is being choked. FYI, the check engine light of course, started all of this mess and the code was P1405, which is the DPFE upstream hose. While replacing the DPFE sensor, I checked the passages and they seem alright to me...Anyone have ideas for me on what to check next? thanks, Mike.

Many thanks Roger, the articles were very helpful. Ever since I have replaced the DPFE sensor, it has run much better and the fuel economy has improved. I guess these things will just have to be replaced every 30-40k miles or so...thanks again for your help.
