When I go to start my sable after it has been off all night, it makes a clicking sound as I turn the ignition. I have power, but it wont start. After lots of trying I put my foot on the break and held the ignition and it started after about 15-20 seconds. The car is automatic, so I dont know why I would need to put my foot on the break for it to start???

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated

have you tried not touching the brakes, but wiggling the shifter when you try to start it?

maybe try to start the car in neutral. or try just rolling the car alittle fore or aft and then put back in park then try to start it.does this only happen after tha car has completely cooled off?

After a couple more days of this, I have figured out that i dont have to have my break down for it to start I just have to hold the ignition for a while. I think it may be the starter going out.

try cleaning the wires going to the starter, disconnect the neg. batt. terminal first. maybe try to replace the starter solenoid before the whole starter. if a starter goes it usually goes completely not with intermitent probs like yours. as for the brake being depressed to start, the brake only has to be depressed to put the car in gear. good- luck and let me know.
