Hello all, I have a problem that I hope is very minor. First off, I want to say that I like my car. When it works as it is supposed to, it is a joy. That said, when it acts up it is miserable.

My problem is that whenever I give it some gas, it will buck violently when shifting. 2,3 sometimes 4 times and then I let off. It shifts fine otherwise.

2nd is that after I drive for a while it will sometimes begin to flicker and shut off. It will start right back up, but it is really alarming.

Lastly, my a/c works when it wants to. I think they are all related, but I need some help. Anyone have any advice on what to do? Thanks in advance!

I would start of by plugging the car in and see what codes pop out. Your descriptions could have numerous causes. Is this a constant, or every other day kinda thing? Mileage on car? 24V? Any tune-ups?Edited by: conan312

I can plug the car in and see what pops out. It is constant on the bucking while shifting (note that it is during like fast take-offs and highway passing). The car has 124+++ miles and I believe it is the regular vulcan motor (2002 Sable LS). I have heard several things about how to fix it, batter, alternator, etc., and I dont think the trans is the problem because it shifts great during normal driving. Thanks for the help!!!

So really it occurs under wide open throttle? Last time it was tuned -up? Namely the fuel filter.

It basically occurs when I push down on the gas pedal for faster acceleration than usual (if that makes sense). Ihaveonly had the car for about 3 months, so Isuppose a tune up couldnt hurt either. I still wonder about the ac and the lights/electricity problems though.

Well, you should be able to tell if it had tune-up lately. Plugs and wires won''t appear aged. But I''m going with the fuel filter. I would change it. ( in-line, under the car) Cheap and I think it just might be the culprit. Let me know.
