Exclamation 2003 Sable LS Premium with 144,000 miles?

Hey Everyone, I'm looking at a 2003 Merc Sable LS Premium with 144,000 miles. The gentleman selling the car is asking $2,650... I test drove the car and it handles excellent, has great acceleration, shifts smooth, and seems to have no bugs. The interior is in good shape, all accessories work, etc, etc. I'm going to check with the seller to see any and all maintenance records. He is the third owner. I'm a bit concerned with the high miles, but I know nothing about the Taurus/Sable. Does this sound like a good value to you? Please share your thoughts, experiences, ideas.. I appreciate your help!

I suggest you go to KBB.com

That's Kelly Blue Book. It sounds like it might be about right for one in excellent condition.

Get the VIN number and goto www.autocheck.com I found it's better than carfax. Gotta pay but it's better than paying that much for a lemon.

Default Some things you might want to check...

I own a 2002 LS Premium Platinum with 80K on it. I really love the car and the only problems I've had is with the ignition coil cracking over and over again. The Sables with the COP's (coil-on-plug) don't have this problem. Also, the auto headlamps sometimes turn off by themselves at night time. This is caused by a bad generic electronic module, (GEM) which is quite common. Please see my thread for more info:

There is a big problem with the coil springs breaking and blowing the tire as well as doing physical damage to the car's fender and possibly causing an accident. What's more is that it's nearly impossible to know whether or not the springs are safe, so be sure to have it checked by a professional. My springs seem to be okay, so far. Overall, I think they're good cars.
