1990 mercury sable SW - automatic -3.0L

I was driving home the other day as I approched stop light car stalled then would not start. got towed home. When i try to start it turns but won't start. sorta like a battery that need charging. anyway , I have replaced the battery, alt. checked ok, starter checked ok, starter relay selenoid replaced, ignition module & ign. coil replaced - still not start. Also oil change, filter, plugs & wire ,dist cap basic tune-up stuff done a few months ago.

Is there a way to check/test the Neutral Safety switch?

When I turn the key to start you can hear the fuel pump power up - but possible that it is bad?

Any ideas would be appreciated.ThanksEdited by: mooserun

I just talked to a friend about My problem and it sounds similar to yours. He suggested I change the fuel filter. I hope that fixes both our problems

It is not getting any spark. and I have already replaced the ign.coil ,ign module ,dist. cap & rotor , has new plugs & wires etc.

someone mentioned something about a "pick-up" it goes on the distrib?

has anyone heard of it ? can it cause my issue?

located at either end of the crank. it acts like an eye to see if the crank is spinning, how fast it's spinning (revolutions per minute or R.P.M.'s) so if thatsensor goes bad it can't tell the computer that the crank is spinning. hence no spark. you should begetting fuel if you hear the pump priming andgiving fuel pressure when you turn the key on. you haven't run the car out of fuel lately, haveyou?that could clog the intank strainer or fuel filter.try replacing the pick up coil if it has one.cam sensors can do the same as a crank sensor if they were to go bad. good luck.
