05 Sable LS, 25K miles, AX4N. Ford says 30k interval. I say max 20k. Dark red, lots of debris on the magnet and filter was dirty. Past due by color and debris.

The pan is larger than an AXOD so plan on several collect pans. It's messy.Use pump pliers to remove 2 inch magnet - about 30lbs pull. Gasket is resusable and new must be from Ford. Careful and clean gasket and pan.R&R new filter seal - green for this car. I added 5, 3/4 inch 30lb pull magnets for magnetic removal of steel and friction material. The pan seal is good quality so light on torque. You will need a long thin funnel to fill. 6 qts and PNDRL and check idle P. Should show cold at BOTTOM of hatchedstick. Buy 7, careful not to overfill.I used synblend Castrol Import Vehicle ATF meets MERCON V and other.NOTE: Be careful replacing the dip stick. Must be seated. Hung up and I didn't notice.Pumps fluid out filler. Fill slowly, cannot dump in funnel due to air lock and spill.

Jacking: I did the jack from sideon frame rail, stands just behind the subframe large bushing. I made two 18 inch blocks from four pieces of 2X6 held with deck screws. Under front wheelsfor safety.Lowered to blocks and backed off. To avoid some of the frame twist jacking each side.
