Thumbs up Cam synchronizer replacement

Hey all, i am new to the forum and i have a 1997 sable 3.0litre. i am wondering if anyone has any idea how long roughly it should take a mechanic to change the cam synchronizer? i know a precise amount of time cant be predicted but at the hourly rate for a mechanic i am just wondering roughtly how long it would take. thanks all and have a great day

24V Duratec or 12V Vulcan?

According to the Motor time guide and Alldata:

.4 hrs on the Duratec (DOHC) 3.0
1.4 hrs on the Vulcan (OHV) 3.0

This does not include diagnostic time...

thanks for the info, its the 12v vulcan. i already had it dignosed and it showed it is the cam synchronizer that needs replacing

Kind of sad, really, that you distrust your mechanic so much you are checking up on him. Perhaps try another mechanic you can trust more easily?

hi lefoverture, i do not distrust my mechanic as my mechanic retired recently. i have to use a new machanic and i wanted to know for my own curiosity. besides as you are aware i am sure, there are a lot of good mechanics out there and there are a lot of shady ones. i live in a small town where mechanics are far and few in between. the closest city to me is 20 kms away so i wanted to have an idea timewise.
