I have a 97 I had to replace the resistor on. It is located under the dash on the air duct, you will see the wires that power it when you look. One question, does it blow on high when switched to a lower speed or just in the high position?

I was going to say you needed a low speed fan switch until your second entry. Now I say you need a complete fan switch. I don't know if they sell it that way. I don't if you have climate control or a four speed switch. If you have climate control(+ or -) switch then I would try some electrical contact cleaner or turn the temperature (+ or -) up and down. Let me know.

They do sell the whole fan switch as a unit. It is not easy to replace, but can be done if you don't mind standing on your head under the dash.

I would like to thank everyone for the great replies posted on my problems on my 97 Sable. As of today the old girl is retired. Due to the rising fuel prices and mileage I had to make a change. Thanks again for all the info.
