I have a 2003 Mercury Sable, it has the Vulcan engine. I was driving through some heavy rain, and the motor is now frozen and will not turn over. It only has 35,000 miles on it, and is paid off, and I do not want to get rid of it if I can avoid it. Does anyone know how to unfreeze a frozen motor. I am pretty mechanically abled, but I am unsure on how to get it unfrozen. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Edited by: atlballer2003

Engines don't freeze from driving through heavy rain. Won't turn over is likely starter or electrical.

How do you know the engine is seized? What happens when turn the key? Is there power to the rest of the car? If so, is there power to the starter? I think it just needs to dry out. Tell me the chain of events that led up to the "freeze".

sounds like you maybe got some water in the intake and possibly hydrolocked it. If this is true all you have to do is remove the spark plugs and crank it until all the water gets out.

you have a bent push rod. pull the head off and take a look at it. this happens when excessive water enters the aircleaner and bend the rods. it will make a motor seem like it is frozen but it is not
