The gas petal will not stay up (no tenion) the car will only go 2 mi per hour. When you pull the petal up it falls right back down. Has anyone encountered this if so is there a simple solution?

Sounds like the return spring let go, but since the car is not screaming bloody murder I''m thinking the throttle cable broke. I would follow the cable from the intake plenum right through to the pedal and see what you can find. Let me know.

ewright,

Hey, sometimes you can look under the car and do it from under neath. It could be easier if you can not do it under the dash. I did it with a capri once and it worked like a charm.

look for loose linkage when you are down there.

But if you want a cool trick on to get it done quicker, see if it is easier and more stuff to get at from under the car. You can get two birds with one stone this way.Edited by: jason sereiko

Take a look where the cable meets the gas pedal linkage. Just stick your head under the dash with a flashlight and check it out.

ewright,The best way for this car is to actually do it from under the car. you can get right at it and see it perfectly. check if anything fell off the linkage. it will save you time instead of looking under the dash

I almost forgot a reply for conan, ............

Thanks for the input Jason, I did not know the throttle cable traveled under the car. Hey ewright, you can choose to ignore Jason if you like. He is a 4 month member who never, and I mean never, leaves the site. There is always one. Feel free to PM me if you feel the need. I''m guessing you found the prob already?Edited by: conan312

All I am saying is when you are down there checking the cable, check the linkage. you can do both from under the car. it is easier to do it this way then to do one from inside then one under the car

No, that is what you said before you edited it. You must think everyone is naive.
