I just bought a 1996 Mercury Sable. I noticed that shortly after they came out there were a few recalls on the transmission. Does anybody know how I can check into my cars history and see if the original owner took it in and had the recalls fixed?< src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" ="text/"></>< ="text/">_uacct = "UA-939292-45";

My Sable had a rebuild and I was unaware until I did the first oil change on it and noticed the yellow Ford recall & rebuild stickers on the transaxle pan. I think there was one under the hood, too.

If it's a safety recall then it remains open and can be fixed indefinitely. But he said some recalls have time limits or mileage limits. Most mechanical recalls won't be taken care of after 100,000 miles he said. And since my car has 160,000 on it I guess I'm outta luck if any of the mechanical recalls weren't taken care of.
