Probably heater core, but without you properly introducing yourself, including stating what year, engine, transmission etc. (as they are sometimes different), no advise can be posted.

My sohc '97 sable has the same problem. I have replaced the thermostat, had the radiator rotted and flushed the heater core. It will still not get hot only warm. I even replaced the expansion tankk and radiator cap. Since it gotten cold here I just freeze and go. Any help would be great. Thanks

Sorry guys, if you can't read AND do not pay attention, you'll wait for help forever.
The Sable, like Taurus or other models, comes with different kind of climate controls, manual ones, automatic, and the fancy digital one.
This means that the controls for the airflow etc. are controlled differently.
So without knowing what kind of controls are in the vehicle, only the Almighty knows what kind of instructions to post.
I'm not the one, and I wont post tons of pages just for a lucky hit.

Then tell us how we know what kind we have. I know mine is not digital, climate control or automatic so it must be manual. Can you help me with this one? It is a 1997 sable gs, sohc 3.0L, auto tranny with OD nothing special. Where do I read about it?

How you know what kind you have?
Gee, if you can't see whether you have simple ***** in your dash or a fancy digital display with push buttons, then I suggest you read the user manual.
It will tell you what options were available. You simply compare the pictures and description with what you have in your car, voilà!
Where to read about what? What kind of climate control? See above, the user manual. How to adjust/repair it or other technical information? Shop manual, technical bulletins, etc. etc.
Greetings!
