Exclamation Help! Please help!!

2001 Mercury Sable 3.0 automatic. I replaced solenoid 1-2 and put the transmission back together. I took it for a test drive and the yellow triangle light came on flashing. I scanned the car and the scanner told me that the pressure control solenoid and torque converter clutch solenoid where not working but the car shifted into second gear this time. I took everything back apart and this time replaced all the solenoids. Cars back together now, no yellow triangle light this time but the transmission is doing the same exact thing as before, not shifting out of 1st gear? Can anyone please help???!!!??!!?!

Sounds like a bad vehicle speed sensor, a twenty buck part.

I thought if the speed sensor was bad transmission would you shift at the wrong speed? My transmission doesn't shift at all!

Crazy as it sounds I have seen cases where a vehicle speed sensor actually fixed the problem, and it is a relatively cheap part and easy to install.

Have you checked to see if there are TSB's on this particular model?

I know on the 2000 Cougars there are several concerning the loss of gears due to transmission solenoid problems. The transmission solenoid is remaining closed for the first and second gear, preventing fluid from entering the gears when accelerating. This requires a complete transmission overhaul or replacement because the transmission solenoid is inside the transmission . They also had problems with the TCM (transmission control module)/PCM (powertrain control module) needing reprogramming, a cheaper alternative. Just trying to help.
