Default low oil pressure of 2004 sable

My car is 2004 mercury sable. It has a problem.

When I trun the key to "on" , the information center shown that "low oil pressure", But after start the car, the "low oil pressure" disappear.

I check the engine oil level is ok!

What cause the problem? and dose this problem could cause the damage of engine?

Thanks!

there's no problem. the oil pump only runs when the engine runs so without the engine running, there's no oil pressure.

oil pump is mechanical... it wont work unless it has the engine running. the lights usually turn on as a way to let you know the bulbs are working in the dash. i am sure there are a couple other lights that come on when the car is off but key is on too.
