My daughters 2001 sable will not turnover even while jumping it. Maybe the starter or solenoid?? Any help will be appreciated.

 

Does it crank or just click? If it just clicks it's probably the starter or really dead battery. If it tries to start or cranks then it's probably fuel delivery. Just something to think about...

 

At 10 years of age both are a possibility. It could also be corroded connections or battery cables. Best way to isolate is to do voltage checks at each connection & also voltage drop test at each connection. You should be able to hear the solenoid click. If not check to see it is getting power to it from the key.

If no power to it, then ignition switch or neutral switch. Speaking of neutral switch, is the transmission in park or neutral?
