My check engine light comes on, and my transmission will not shift into overdrive. I can stop and turn the car off, restart it and the check engine light goes out and the car will shift fine untill the light comes back on.The transaxle is a AXOD-E one of the electronically controlled units. Any help would be appreciated.

 

same thing happened with my 96. they make a cheap little plastic part inside the tranny that controls it switching in and out of overdrive manually. this piece breaks and doesnt allow it to shift up
