I own a 97 Mercury Cougar on which I just had a load of brake work done. It has nearly 30k mileage and this was the first time the brake vaccuum booster had to be replaced. I was wondering why, in addition to what the mechanic told me, this would have become a problem. I could tell there was a problem so I'm pretty sure I wasn't getting taken.

Also, I can't for the life of me seem to get my headlights back into proper alignment. Is there something I'm missing? Does anyone have some schematics scanned that they could email me on how to straighten the bugger out?

I believe your failure is a random incident of a mechanical failure. In my 5.5 yrs at the dealership i cant remember our technicans replacing even one..

Ill see what i can find for you ona headlamp aiming procedure

Thanks! The booster replacement was something my mechanic told me he had done on various cars perhaps ten times in fifteen years.

In addition to the aforementioned problems I have discovered that my cruise control is now out and my windshield wipers no longer sweep all the way to the edge as they previously did.

I continue to suspect foul play.

I believe the cruise may be on that side of the vehicle and it could easliy be bumped and distrubed i would say take it back and ask them to check there work.

The wiper motors on those cars as they get old and wear out do have a tendacy to do weird things
