1992 Cougar LS - Rear Subframe Body Mount
Hi.... doing some front suspension work on my son's 1992 Cougar LS (3.8L) and found that the rear subframe brackets (where the front of the subframe attaches to the body) are rusted through. I found the brackets online and have them on order, but I'm thinking I should take the opportunity to replace the bushing/cushions here as well. I can't seem to find a part number anywhere online for this. Anyone know what this is? I'm calling the ford parts dept tomorrow, but was hoping someone else might know. When changing these, is there anything special I should know? I've done front suspension work on 2 other vehicles, but my rear end experience is limited to shocks. Any advice is appreciated!
Found them at SuperCoupePerformance.com ... they have both the factory rubber ones and some polyurethane performance bushings. Also learned the purpose of that rusted bracket. Thankfully it doesn't hold the subframe on like I thought... just minimizes some of the wheel hop caused by the original rubber bushings.
