Default 93 cougar xr7 poor acceleration

My 93 cougar has been the best first car, but after we had to replace the distributor cap the timing got all messed up which we thought was causing it to accelerate slow, (i have to press the pedal to the ground to even take off) so we got a timing light and tried that, the timing is all ok, so we are searching for more solutions, back pressure or catalystic clog, if you have any suggestions for something to try i would greatly appreciate it thanks.

it could be that your Ignition Timing is off which you just loosen the disty bolt and turn it either clock wise or counter clockwise to advance or retard spark until you are at a good idle and you should get better acceleration you wont be able to tell with a timing light because its your ignition timing and a timing light tells you how your cam timing is not your ignition timing, try that before you go spending a ton of money at a shop.
