Dropping the fuel tank!! help please

i need to drop the fuel tank to do a fuel pump job but it won't come down and i can't even get the fuel lines lose.../
please help

what year Cougar are you messing with??? should be able to unbolt the 2 tank straps and lower it down far enough to disconnect the wiring and fuel lines.
