I'm putting my fuel tank back in on my '98 Marquis and no matter what I do, the straps are short of the bolt hanging down from the top. There is only about 1/3-1/2 inch on the drivers side that I need to get the nut to catch a thread. I've been struggling with this for THREE DAYS on just one bolt! The tank is as high as it will go. There is nothing hanging up on top.
I'm really getting frustrated with this and ready to have AAA tow it to the shop and have them worry about it but that kind of defeats the purpose of being able to do it yourself. ANY help would be greatly appreciated guys! Thanks!

 

I had the same problem a few years ago. I just kept having to move the tank and the straps until it all fit right.
