Default fuel tank removal

2000 Grand Marquis

I have the tank almost entirely removed but I have hit a stump. The Chilton manual says to unplug the wiring harness leading into the tank with a screwdriver. There are no plugs to unplug. The wires leading into the tank are go into a plastic flange that sits flush on the tank. Do I pry this flange out of the tank?
Thanks for any help you can give!

Found it! Mercury did me no favors when they assembled this car. The wiring bundle went out of site up on a support beam under the floor of the trunk. By working a pry bar between the beam and the trunk flooring and prying it apart...I was able to drag it out to unplug it. It was literally wedged. Thanks anyway!
