Default Hi all.New here looking for tips on this subject

I have a 1997 Cougar XR-7 with the 4.6L in it.Factory nothing has been upgraded. So as it stands it puts out 205hp.How/is there anything i can do that's not to costly that i can gain some more power? I mean gain a little but at the same time certainly noticeable.Till a week goes by and i'm used to it . I was told get it a new high performance chip (prom) for the computer. How true is a noticeable gain with a $60 15min job computer chip? Any and all other suggestions are more then welcome. Thanks guy's
