Hi. i tried searching the web and also tried searching the manual on motorcraftservice.com but i couldn''t find a how-to on changing the brake pads.

If anyone has an explanation on this or a how-to i would appreciate it. I''ve changed the pads on my mazda with no problem, but i had a how-to. I''m afraid i may not be able to figure it out.

i specifically would like the front brake pads.

its a 99 mercury cougar.

thanks a lot

generally pads are the same on most stock vehicles. you''ll need a c-clamp (6 inches or larger) to press the caliper back and a socket set to get the two caliper mounting bolts off. pop the hood, open the brake reservior, then remove the caliper bolts... slide the caliper off the disc, remove the outer pad and press the caliper back with the old pad still on the caliper piston (inner pad). Put the new pads on, and bolt it back up. bleeding the brakes after this is a very good idea.
