I have a 99 mercury cougar v-6 and it has 133,000 miles on it but it still runs like a dream.. however, whenever i get on the interstate or any type of highway and keep the vehicle above 60 mph for a constant amount of time, when i get off the interstate or highway and come to a complete stop the car then when accelerating wants to shirt hard..its like it forgets to shift for a second so it jerks...but when i turn the car off and restart it all is fine... I've taken it to several mechanics and even a mercury dealership and no-one can tell me what the problem is...if anyone has any information...it would be much appreciated

 

Unfortunatly my wifes 99 had the same issue with no awnser to why it did it....we only got rid of it with new transmisson........

 

My brother also experiences the same problem, although he has not yet change his transmission.
