95 Marquis Charging System Nighmare
Howdy fellas,
I seem to have a discharge thing happening with my Marquis. I have taken the alternator off, had it checked (@ Autozone), dressed and addressed the mount. I read that that mount can, over time become a discharge area that freaks the coolant out and kills the heater core. Tweaked all the grounds and wiring, new battery too. When I start the car the volt meter hovers around mid way between H and L. At a idle I can see the gauge surging. With A/C on flutter....at speed it stays steady. Same issue with lights and stuff too...I do not have a multimeter yet so..you know I am red neckin it.
I have taken the hood light bulb out, the truck bulb out...I have had to remove the guts of both back windows due to regulator failure. The 5 way seat switch is wonky too.
What I did in the interim is, make a disconnect for the neg. battery cable and I just disconnect the battery when I park it and charge the battery on a float charge.
@ 125k I am thinking maybe the alternator is the problem but I dont know for sure.
Any suggestions, tips or link suggestions to do my own homework?
Any suggestions with help a bunch,
Thanks,
robbie
