Car was jump started-rev. polarity!
#1
<DIV>I have a 1996 Mystique GS, which needed to be jump started when a friend borrowed it. A starter service came out, tried to jump start it, reversed polarity, caused some smoke so the starter person stopped, disconnected and then reconnected, which started the car. However, the alternator was fried, which I replaced. Now however, the alternator still will not charge the battery. something called the "mega-fuse" might be involved. But, how do I read the diagnostic codes to figure out what else was hit by the reverse polarity? I don't have a code reader handy either!</DIV>
