make sure the switches that control lights to each door are adjusted right. they are push buttons and from years of opening and closing the switches get pushed in and dont realize the doors are shut so switch remains on. the swithces pop out and can be turned out. might have to go to junkyard for parts since it is made of plastic. i need to get some for 2 of the cars here since they did the same thing and i unplugged them till i get switches replaced. probably wouldnt hurt my car much since it has full LED lighting in it that uses almost no power compared to regular bulbs.

Default interior lights stay on

Hi, my interior lights stay on all the time. If I remove all 4 door jamb switches, the light should turn off , right??? I did remove the switches but the lights did go off ... so there must be some other problem in the system somewhere right?

Are there any relays or something that controlls the interior lights? Where do I get cheap used door jamb switches?

I got a '89 Grand Marquis

Thx for your help !!!!

Patrick

make sure the headlight switch is not rotated all the way past the click. if it is, the interior lights will stay on.

if the door jam switches are not properly adjusted out far enough so that the door will press it in when shut, that could cause it as well. The headlight switch could be the problem as well. It's not too hard to replace either. Try disconnecting the wire harness to the headlight switch, if the lights go out then, that was the problem. If not, it's one of the door switches.
